David Rothstein, Ph.D., P.G., FACI is the President of DRP, a Twining Company. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, he earned undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in geology with an emphasis on metamorphic petrology. He has also explored for precious metals and conducted post-doctoral research on the chemistry and microstructure of cement-based materials. This background fostered skills in petrographic analysis, field mapping, electron microscopy, thermodynamic modeling of mineral-fluid reactions, and numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer processes. This means David knows how to look at rocks, minerals, concrete and other cement-based materials and understand the physical and chemical processes that govern their performance.

David is an active member of the American Concrete Institute and the American Society of Testing and Materials and serves as a voting member on committees that are involved with petrography, concrete durability, aggregates, and plaster in both organizations. Over the past 20 years David has personally conducted over 1,500 investigations looking at more than 8,000 samples from more than 46 states in the US and a dozen other countries. David  is highly regarded as a public speaker and is a regular speaker at the World of Concrete. David also has a proven track record as an effective expert witness with experience providing services that range from basic litigation support to expert testimony in deposition, mediation, arbitration and trial.

When not on the job, David spends time with family and enjoying the mountains near Boulder and beyond.
